Keeping Your Google Account Safer

One of the most important things about internet safety is making sure your accounts are secure. Imagine losing your Google account: all your email, your drive documents, and even money in your Google wallet. Protecting you Google account is imperative. One way you can do this is to use Google's 2-Step Verification. Using this feature, when you log into your Google account, not only will you have to put in your password, but Google will also text a unique code to your phone that you must enter, giving you account access.

These are the two steps required for login with 2-Step verification.

It may sound a little bit tedious, but it really effectively protects your account. If someone has your username AND password, they still can't access your account unless they physically have your phone to receive the login text. This is just another helpful way to protect your accounts. Note: 2-Step Verification doesn't currently work for Harding Google accounts, but many Harding students I know have an additional personal Google account that would benefit from it.

When you enter the code from your phone, you can log in! Meanwhile, the bad guy has no access.
