Google Search Tools You Never Knew Existed
We all use Google in some way or another. As college students of all majors, Google search plays a vital role in the success of our studies. Research paper? Google it. Difficult homework assignment? Google it. Don't remember the name of a song? Google it. The extent to which we utilize this heavenly search engine has no end. A close companion for all our days. As valuable as this search engine is, however, most of us neglect to see what else Google has to offer. Many more tools and programs are just a few clicks away and are available to us with more specific needs. Listed below are just a few of those special tools that may be worth looking into.
1. Google Ngram Viewer
Ngram Viewer may be more for fun rather than for practical uses, but this tool is excellent for keyword searches. Ngram allows you to search keywords from millions of books over half a millennium. This is a way to view what was trending back in the day or how popular certain products or items were. If you're curious as to what was trending back in Victorian times, this tool is the one for you.
2.Google Think Insights
This is a good resource for those students who are striving to be young entrepreneurs. Think Insights allows you to view case studies, learn tips, and research for yourself on how to grow your own business. Using this tool, you'll find ways to maximize your site's ad campaigns and analytic capabilities. One specific valuable collection is "How to Make Your Website Work Across Different Platforms".
3. Schemer
Schemer allows you to bring your to-do-list and your social planner together. Using a connection with your Google X account, Schemer will give you some ideas of what to do in your area. This is a particularly useful tool when it comes to travelling. Just show up in a place you've never been before and allow Google Schemer to guide you to the fun. It's also good for those boring Searcy nights when you just don't know what to do. Not only will Schemer give you some good ideas for making the most out of your day but will also connect you with other users who want to do the same thing.

4. Google Fonts
Did you know you could change the fonts of any open source websites? I bet not. Google offers roughly 629 font families with adjustable thickness, slant, width, and script. Might be worth experimenting.
5. Google Sky
You've heard of Google Earth... but have you heard of Google Sky? Google sky allows you to explore the star and space systems much like Google Earth allows you to view different parts of our world. This tool is in collaboration with NASA and also displays images captured by the Hubble telescope. Don't forget to also check out Google Mars and Google Moon!
These are just a few of some of my favorite newly found Google tools. Take advantage of the tools at your fingertips and check some of these applications out!
