"Rumour has it Apple's got something for your phone."
Here we are again discussing yet another rumor that our beloved fruit symboled tech company, Apple, has a relatively new feature for your iPhone, iPad, and iPod! Fortunately to us, this rumor has actually just been confirmed by Apple themselves.
Q: Have you ever heard of a software called f.lux?
R: If you haven't I will briefly explain what it is and what it does. F.lux is an application that limits the amount of blue light that is emitted from your computer/phone screen by replacing the blue light with other color waves. Why is this so cool? Well, are you like me who always checks my phone before going to bed at night? This ritual is actually impeding on your sleep. Meeri Kim--a journalist for Washington Post--confirms that for us in one of her articles, "...light--particularly of the blue variety--can keep pineal gland from releasing melatonin, thus warding off sleepiness" (par. 4).
Q: Okay... So what does Apple have to do with this?
R: F.lux used to be an application that you could side-load to your iPhone through a complicated process. But this risky process violated the "Developer Program Agreement" so Apple told f.lux they needed to stop. Because so many people liked this application, Apple has decided to include a similar feature called "Night Shift" in their new iOS 9.3 update.
Q: What is "Night Shift?"
Q: Will "Night Shift" be supported on my device?
R: "Night Shift" will only be available iOS devices with a 64-bit processor. A chart below shows which devices are supported, and those that are not (Clover).
