Hello Darkness My Old... Extension?

Do you enjoy surfing the web with all of your lights off? Do you find it hard to do so because websites are too bright and strain your eyes? Well strain them no more, my friend! Or do strain them, don't let me tell you how to live your life. If, however, you want to save your eyes from further harm, continue reading, as I am about to change your life by introducing you to 2 pretty neat dark extensions for Google Chrome.

If you're constantly on Facebook or Google, then this first extension is perfect for you! Darkness: Beautiful Dark Themes inverts all the colors in a web page except for images and videos, allowing you to watch videos and browse your friend's pictures without a bright background burning your eyes.

The only downside to this extension is that the free version is only available for Google and Facebook, and the only theme that you can use is the one called "Iceberg." If you want other themes or if you want to be able to use it on more than just Google and Facebook, you'll have to purchase the "pro" version... for $4.99. Let's face it, five dollars is way too much to pay for a dark theme. I'd rather have five cheeseburgers for five dollars than relief for my eyes! But, I digress. Don't lose hope though! If you want a dark theme for Google Chrome that will work on all your favorite websites, then check out this next extension.

Dark Reader is what I believe to be the best dark theme for Google Chrome that is available. Where as the previous extension only worked for two websites, Dark Reader works for every website you visit! The fun doesn't stop there, however. This extension is user friendly and quite customize-able. If there is a website whose colors are perfect for your eyes already, don't turn off Dark Reader! Simply toggle the extension for that specific website.

This extension is more than just an on or off button that determines whether or not a website's colors are inverted. In fact, sometimes the colors are merely altered to provide the user with a more pleasant view of the page, instead of completely inverting them. It's also really user friendly and gives you options that you can play with so you can get the best experience while roaming the interwebs. You get to control the brightness, contrast, grayscale, and more!

Dark Reader isn't completely perfect though, as there are a couple of downsides. First of all, the option for changing fonts doesn't always work. Also, there are a few websites whose images' colors also become inverted along with the website's colors. However, this happens on very few websites. This extension is open source, so if you know a little bit about website design, why not put your two cents in by contributing to their Github repository here.
