Harding M: Drives Being Replaced with a Better Tool

We wanted to let you know that we are phasing out the M: drives (the 1 gig of network storage provided by Harding) at the end of the Spring, 2019 semester.

If you have information stored in your Harding M: drive and would like to retain this information, you will need to move it to one or more of these options:  1) local storage on your computer, 2) your Harding Google My Drive or 3) other cloud storage

After May 15, 2019, your Harding M: drive will no longer be available.
We recommend moving your documents to your Harding Google My Drive. There are several advantages to using your Harding Google My Drive:

  • By using My Drive, all of your documents are accessible from off campus, giving you the flexibility needed to work from anywhere, and from any device.
  • You can access your documents on your phone or tablet by installing the Google Drive app.
  • To access your files through programs such as Microsoft Word as you have with M: Drive files, you can install Google File Stream on your computer.  You will then be able to access them using the G: drive. Google File Stream will be installed on all lab computers shortly.
  • With your Harding email address, your My Drive has unlimited storage so you will never have to worry about running out of storage space (personal non-Harding GMail accounts have a limit of 15 GB of storage).
  • Sharing documents has never been easier. With My Drive, you can quickly share a file with one person, or a group of people, without having to send it through an email.

Here's an article in the TecHU Knowledge Base that will give you step-by-step instructions.
