Storage Technology

With summer approaching many of you may be getting storage units. What does that have to do with technology? Well you can rid yourself of some unnecessary stress by letting technology aid you. Here are some ways you can use technology this summer...

First, there are websites out there that can help you find and sometimes even reserve a storage unit online. One website that does this is sparefoot.com. Not only can you look at and compare units, they also provide storage tips.

Next, you can use apps like Sortly to keep track of your stored stuff. If you forget halfway through the summer if you left something in your storage unit, you can open up your organization app and see exactly what is stored. Another cool thing that you can do with this app is add QR codes to your boxes. Then you can scan the box and know exactly what is in it. If you need to take just a few things out of the unit, you won't have to open up every box to find the few things. If you record it you can even know where that box is placed in the unit without scanning QR codes. You can also share this information with friends if you needed them to know where something was. Along with this you can decide exactly what info gets shared.

Lastly, you can even use your smartphone to open up your storage unit. There are now Bluetooth padlocks that you can use to lock up your unit. The handy thing about this is you can share access to other people's phones and then share a unit to cut down on costs without worrying about shuffling around a key. And don't worry if the battery on the lock dies, you can press another battery on the bottom, giving it enough life to open it. Once it is open, you can replace the battery entirely. If your phone is dead and you need into the unit right away you can put in
a predefined pattern to unlock the unit without using
your phone.
