The Importance of Scanning for Channels
Have you set up a new TV in your dorm, but don't understand why you are only getting 2 or 3 channels? Well, something you may not know, I didn't, is that you have to manually tell your TV to scan for channels. Why is this? Different cable providers broadcast channels on different frequencies, so your TV needs to scan to find the frequency of your cable provider, at Harding that is HU TV for most dorms.
So, how do you do this channel scan? Most TVs are different, but it's relatively straight forward.
1. Go to the main menu of the television
2. Look for a sub-menu called "setup", "settings", or something similar
3. From there you should be able to find another sub-menu that says "system", "channels", or "installation"
4. There should be an option saying "Scan Channels", "Auto Scan", "Program Channels", "Auto Program", "Auto tuning", or something along those lines
5. After you click on whatever option is there, just sit back and wait for your TV to scan
Once the scan is complete click through the channels to make sure they all seem to be working and then enjoy your TV viewing!
