Galaxy S8: Incoming!
Today, Samsung will be holding a special announcement event for its newest phone, the Galaxy S8. Many, such as myself, were looking forward to the newest edition to the Galaxy series.
The Galaxy S8 comes with many "features," some of which may be better received than others.
Screen Size:
Like the new iPhone, the Galaxy S8 comes in two sizes. The S8 is going to have a 5.8" display, and the S8+ will have a 6.2" display. For comparison, the iPhone 6+ has a 5.5" display. In addition to size, they have reduced the bezel on the screen to allow for even more screen space. Lastly, to completely maximize the available space, the S8 is going to remove the iconic hardware home button that has been a staple for the Galaxy series thus far.
The S8 should have the same 12 megapixel camera as the S7, however they have improved the image processing software. In addition, the front camera has been upgraded to a 8 megapixel camera
The infinity screen, or the "edge" displays have now become standard.
The announced colors for the Galaxy S8 are black sky, orchid grey, arctic silver, coral blue, and an unnamed gold version.
The S8 will have 64GB standard memory and a micro-SD slot for expansion. It will also have the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and a native resolution of 2960x1440. And yes, it will have a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Lastly, the S8 comes with the Bixby virtual assistant software. For more on Bixby, see this article by the Verge
Price will vary by carrier, but look forward to this addition to the Galaxy family.
