What to Expect at the Apple Special Event

The annual September Apple event is just a couple of days away on Wednesday, September 12. So you might be wondering what exactly will they be talking about. Here are a few of the things to look forward to and some to potentially look forward to.

  1. iOS: Apple is expected to announce the release of their new mobile OS that was announced at their developer conference in June. It has several new features including performance boosts, FaceTime support for up to 32 people, Memojis and additional animojis, notifications and Do Not Disturb improvements, Siri Shortcuts, and more. 2. macOS: Mojave will be the next release of the macOS system. One of the top features is the new dark mode across the entire interface (it's a HUGE deal for techy people). Other features bring it closer to iOS and make it better overall. These new features include Dynamic Desktop, stacks, improved Quick Look, Continuity Camera, a few apps ported from iOS, and a new look for the App Store. 3. watchOS: watchOS 5 should be one of the main topics this week alongside iOS and macOS. It will feature some new abilities and some improvements to existing features. Some of these newer features include activity competitions, more advanced running features, podcasts, Walkie Talkie functionality, and student ID support at some universities. Now for some of the rumors:

  1. iPad Pro: It's been almost a year since the iPad Pro was last updated and many speculate that it will be one of the topics at the keynote this week. All rumors show that FaceID will be added to the iPad Pro and the bezels will be significantly smaller.
  2. Mac Mini: Apple has stated that it still considers the Mac Mini to be important to it. It, however, has been untouched for the past five years and many are expecting them to address this during the September Event.

This Wednesday will be a great day for all of us Apple-biased techies that swear by nothing else. If you want to watch the event, it will stream on the Apple website (https://www.apple.com/apple-events/september-2018/) starting at 12pm CST (10 am PDT).
