Disney Plus is Getting Closer...

I think that by now must of us know about Disney's new streaming service, Disney+. The service is in direct competition to other streaming giants like Netflix and Hulu. It's a convenient place for Disney to put all their movies and TV shows, old and new, at the convenient price of $7 a month (or $70 a year) for the consumer. For reference, Netflix's Basic Plan starts at $9, while Hulu's Basic Plan (with ads) is $6. So Disney+ falls somewhere in the middle price-wise.

Disney has promised a wide range of films and shows. For those who are nostalgic for the Disney of the past, movies from the 60's like "Sammy, the Way-Out Seal" will be available to stream. For those who are getting tired of rewatching their favorite movies or shows, new series like "The Mandalorian" will make their debut and permanent residence on Disney+. They even plan to release some feature films solely on the platform. So, whether you're craving new content or old, Disney+ will have you covered.

To a Disney fan, this is all extremely exciting, but if you aren't so big a fan of Disney right now, then sadly Disney+ doesn't have much to offer you. Unlike Netflix or Hulu, whose digital libraries are composed of media by a great number of creators and production studios, all the content on Disney+ are, of course, Disney specific.

Some say the Disney+ is going to put Netflix at risk. Disney and Hulu have teamed up to give consumers a package option, where you can bundle Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu all in one. Netflix, however, has been hung out to dry, and some say that Disney+ may be enough of a hit that it puts Netflix in danger of losing a large following. I, however, am not so sure, because of the reasons in the paragraph above - Disney+ only has Disney content. Unless Disney changes their plans, Netflix will always have a higher diversity of creators and producers than Disney can pull together.

Disney+ is already available for pre-order and will be released on November 12, 2019. Will you be streaming?
