Packing it in: Fall Break

It's that time of year, not quite yet the four weeks of freedom full of cheer, but a three day weekend is nothing to blow away. So you do your best to clean up the mess left over by the stress of the midterm burn so you can return ready to learn. Whether you decide to stay or go away for your vacay, if you plan it you will be able to make the most of those three days.

First, make a quick list of things you need to get done and any major things the next week you need to in mind.  Then make time to complete all your assignments ahead of time and set realistic expectations. It's best to get ahead if you can so you can take full advantage of the vacation, but if you need to you can set aside specific times to work on stuff. You just have to stick to what you set. Once you know what you need to do, then it gets exciting.

The fun part is planning the things you want to do. Making a list of a handful of things you would enjoy over the weekend. I would suggest one big thing and then two small things. One activity with a small group, and you might want to plan alittle recharge activity just for yourself. For myself, I like to  listen to music or a book on audible while I sketch or fill in my adult coloring book as I swing in my hammock. Everyone has something different that they love to do that just fills their pool, make space for that this fall break. You might even see who you can get together with local for some fun in Arkansas.

If you are staying there are probably more things that you can do than you realize. You can always go to Little Rock for Arkansas Skatium, Altitude trampoline park, shopping, and more. Of course you can go to Heber for cliff jumping and swimming. Or, if you like to hike and don't mind driving a few hours, you could go to Petit Jean, Sugar Loaf, or my personal favorite Pinnacle.

If you want to skip the long drive and stay in Searcy there is River Side park. There is a trail, lots of great places to put up your hammock or climb, and even a rope swing to jump in the lake. There is also the Super Bowl and Arcade, Searcy Family Skate Entertainment Center, Zion Rock climbing, and Hourglass Escape Rooms. Needless to say, there is plenty to do if you stay on cam.

If you decide to travel out of state, make sure to plan out your activities, do your research and be realistic. Make a quick checklist of what you need so that you can pack light, and it isn't a big deal to unpack and clean things when you get back. When you plan ahead, you might find some deals for reservations during the off season. Remember to check your car before you go, and think about where you will need to fill up on gas. You can use google maps to find gas stations along your route and google street view to check it out before hand to make sure its safe. You might also see what restaurants you want to eat at along the way. Above all, be safe and have a great break!
