FIX: Mac Anti-Virus Issues

Many Mac owners on campus may have received notice this week from SafeConnect that they were no longer able to access the HU-Student network due to not having an anti-virus installed. Yet you may have installed Sophos your freshman year and it had been working fine.

This is due to Sophos retiring their original version of the anti-virus program and instituting the new program Sophos Home. Sophos announced that the EOL or End of Life date for users running Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac version 9.9.7 to be December 31, 2020. Given that this was over our winter break, many students were suprised when they returned to campus to find their laptop was no longer connecting.

But don't worry just yet, if you are an avid Sophos supporter, they have released Sophos Home for Mac the replacement for their self-titled anti virus software. This program should allow you to get on the network just as you were before. If you are still having trouble, AVG Anti-Virus seems to be working just fine with our network,

If you need any help with your anti-virus or laptop in general, feel free to come up and see us in the Administration Building room 205 or call us at 501-279-4545.
