Smart Home Devices - New Updates to Amazon's Alexa
Smart devices that can be installed in homes are becoming more and more popular. Doorbells, windows, kitchen appliances, and more are connecting to the internet to be controlled by a device, even if the user is away from home.
Amazon's Alexa isn't a new product, but it's new updates are automating home life even more. The Echo speaker can seamlessly integrate with Spotify, Audible, Sirius XM, and more to play audio at a spoken command. Need to know the traffic conditions before you leave? Ask Alexa and she'll tell you. On your way to work and realize that you forgot to turn off your lights? Unlock your phone and open the app to power them off. The possibilities with smart home devices are becoming endless.
The newest update to Amazon's Alexa allows it to act on a hunch to do a certain task, without asking permission first. In the past, Alexa had the ability to sense these habits and ask about doing them. Now, if this feature is enabled, Alexa will have a hunch about a habit and respond automatically. For example, Alexa might detect that the user is about to go to bed and lower the temperature in the room or dim the lights. Some might find this new feature a little creepy and think that it infringes too much. Others who are constantly asking Alexa to lower the temperature in the room every night before bed might love this new feature. Thankfully, this feature is not only able to be totally turned off or turned on, but you can enable it or disable it for each device connected to your Alexa, making it completely customizable to each user.
