Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp had a global outage

About more than 3,5 billion people around the world use Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger, and on Monday they were not able to use any of these sites to communicate with others. A lot of people use these sites for their businesses so it caused an impact to them. There are places where people use WhatsApp for their businesses, and they were not able to communicate with their customers in all that time
In response, Facebook wrote on Twitter:

The outage was for about 5 to 6 hours. The problem was, according to Facebook, that there was a networking issue that interrupted communications between its data centers.
What they meant was that nobody's computers had any way of connecting to Facebook or its other sites like Instagram or WhatsApp.

Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg lost about $5.9 billion due to this outage. He is now the 5th richest person in the world.
