The New Google Pixel

Do you consider yourself a hipster? Are you extremely passive when you hear two people arguing about whether the iPhone is better than an Android phone? Have you accepted the fact that Windows phones are completely irrelevant, but you are now in need of a new phone that will make you different from everyone else? Well then the new Google Pixel or the Google Pixel XL is the smart phone for you. So grab a cup of caramel macchiato with a shot of espresso from somewhere that isn't Starbucks ('cause that is too mainstream), pull your MacBook a little closer, and continue reading to learn how the Google Pixel can help you to be even more hipster.

Siri, the voice of the iPhone, is cool, but just not who you want to hear talk to you for the next year and a half or so of your life. Besides, when you try and talk to her, you don't feel a personal connection. With Google Assistant, you feel like you have a friend! You feel like you and your phone are family. Especially since you can use a custom "hot word" to speak to your phone so it knows when to respond. Let's be honest, who doesn't think you're cool or important when you talk to a phone?

I suppose I've offended enough hipsters by now. So let's get serious about what actually is cool about the new Google Pixel. How often have you found yourself trying to take a picture or a video with your phone when all of a sudden a "no more storage" message pops up? Well, with the Pixel, Google offers unlimited and free cloud storage for any 4K pictures or videos taken with the phone. Oh--I haven't talked about the Pixel XL camera's 4K capability yet? Well, hipsters, prepare to have your suspenders knocked off!

The Google Pixel XL can capture images and videos in 4K resolution. Compare that to the iPhone 7 Plus's camera being able to take pictures and videos at only 1080p. The funny thing is, the regular Google Pixel phone has just as good camera quality as the iPhone 7 Plus. The Pixel's front camera has the iPhone's front camera beat as well; the Pixel's front camera is 8MP while the iPhone's is a close, but second 7MP.

When looking for a new phone, battery life is one of the most important specifications to look at, so let's talk about the Pixel's battery specs and compare it to the iPhone's. The Pixel claims to give 7 hours of use after only 15 minutes of charging, which is pretty useful if you're constantly on the go.  For the XL version, it also claims that it can go up to 14 hours without being charged if the user is only using the internet. the iPhone 7 specifications look like they beat the Pixel's by about an hour, but there are a lot of variables when it comes to battery life. Overall, the Pixel's battery seems to be pretty decent for a phone that has as much power as it does.

Both versions of the Pixel seem to be good phones with decent battery life and a fantastic camera. By far, the 4K camera coupled with the unlimited cloud storage for 4K images and videos is the best part of this new phone. So if you're looking for a smartphone that's different, try out the Google Pixel.
