April Fools!

Ever heard of those notorious pranks that the tech world plays on the world on April Fools Day every year? If you haven't then here is a round up of the best one's from 2018.

The origins of the April Fools jokes can be traced back to Charles Babbage (probably). As long as there have been consumers, there have been people in technology to trick and confuse them. For decades geeks have enjoyed a causal troll, but until the most recent decades, their activities have been heightened by the exposure of technology in a person's everyday life. There is a specific niche for the tech April Fools jokes, and 2018 does not disappoint us geeks. See below a list of some of the great consumer April Fools jokes from this year.

Jurassic World Dinosaur Detection System

The Geek targeting retailer ThinkGeek released a few interesting trickets this year including the ever needed Jurassic World Dinosaur Detection System which is just a fancy cup of water with a way to measure how imminent a Dino attack is.

Where's Waldo in Google Maps

This year Google wants to have a little fun so they created a playable Where's Waldo game within Google Maps. Waldo pops out and beckons your to seek him out across the globe.

Pokemon Go 8-bit

You are about to experience a serious downgrade in Pokemon Go. The app announced that they are planning to release a brand new graphic engine that renders your Pokemon in their original 8-bit versions. "Registering approximately twice the definition of 4K, the chunky squares of each pixel provide realistic detail and unbelievable definition" - the fake announcement reads.

Google Cloud Hummus API

Google Israel's fake announcement of the high-tech Google Hummus API takes Google's April Fools jokes international. Their alleged high-tech system find your taste in hummus with exacting precision. The video makes you believe this is a real thing, and makes me excited to try it out!

Chegg Osmosis Pillow

My favorite of these April Fools antics includes an announcement released by the textbook giant Chegg. They released word about their 'Osmosis Pillow' which provides you away to do the ultimate double-task - sleep and study. Every college student has always dreamed of a technology where you simply place your textbook under your pillow and learn while you sleep - Chegg has made this possible - and not to mention, it's memory foam!
