A Good Time to be a Star Wars Fan

For Star Wars fans, the past couple of weeks have been a resurgence of excitement that we probably haven't felt about the franchise in a while. Before the recent excitement, the last few additions to our beloved galaxy far, far away were three flops (more or less, depending on who you ask). "The Last Jedi" in 2017, "Star Wars Battlefront II" also in 2017, and "Solo: A Star Wars Story" in 2018 were all received with much less enthusiasm than was expected. The two movies, "Solo" and "The Last Jedi", just didn't have the same feel that fans have come to expect from the franchise. Battlefront, one of the most recent Star Wars games, also had a rocky start. The game initially made use of microtransactions to progress in the online co-op aspect of the game. That, combined with the promise of a good story that some feel was not upheld by the game's "Campaign" mode, left a bad taste in the mouth's of the fans who were so ready for more Star Wars. Personally, I like all three of these segments of the Star Wars universe. "The Last Jedi", while sometimes a bit slow and boring, was a good insight into our new characters internal struggles. "Solo" was fun and Alden Ehrenreich (who played Han Solo) did a good job at both taking his own direction with the character, while still paying homage to Harrison Ford's original act. "Battlefront" has also much improved since the release, allowing users to progress through hard work and not through microtransactions.

All of this, however, has left the fan base wanting. But during the second week of November, the release of "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order" and the debut of Disney+ with all of the installments of The Skywalker Saga and the new show "The Mandalorian" has brought content new and old into the hands of hungry fans.

No one really knew what to expect from these two new installments. Disney did a good job at keeping away any possible spoilers, and for good reason. "The Mandalorian", in it's first episode, teases to open up the galaxy in ways we haven't yet seen it. "Fallen Order" hopes to give us insight into a canonical subplot that has only been hinted at in the mainstream canon (as opposed to the old "Legends" books, where there is a plethora of content that Disney has elected to ignore).

On top of this, fans will also soon get to experience the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga with "Rise of Skywalker" in December.

It's a good time to be a Star Wars fan.
