A phone that can charge 5x as fast an the iPhone 12??

       As news about the newest iPhone 12 breaks, other big tech news has been swept under the rug. The iPhone 12 brags about its astonishing new charging capabilities, 15W wireless. This new 15W standard is twice as fast as Apple’s previous iteration. However, this week the Chinese phone company Xiaomi, announced that they are working on wireless charging at the insane rate of 80W. Currently, this is still under research and development by Xiaomi but the results look very promising.

        Xiaomi tested their results on their Mi 10 Ultra flagship phone line, which boasts a 4000mAh battery; for comparison, an iPhone 11 battery is around 3000mAh in size. Their 80W wireless charging will supposedly charge that 4000mAh battery to 50% full from dead in 8 minutes and 100% in just under 20. This new development would be incredibly convenient and also another big step forward in the race for the fastest phone charger.
