Impending Doom or A New Leaf?

You might have seen an email come through telling you that you need to change your password before you are locked out of your account. This is an important email to listen to, because if you do not change your password, you will be locked out of your Harding account 2 weeks after receiving the email.

Password changes are very frustrating to deal with, but are more frustrating if you don't handle them as soon as they arise. Here are a few tips to get through this quickly so you don't have to worry about being locked out of your account when you should be doing homework.

1. Read carefully. The email contains important information about what you need to do. Opening the change link in a new tab will help you get through the process quickly as you can reference the email.

2. Add Numbers and Symbols to an existing password. In order for a password to work under the new system, it has to meet a certain level of complexity. A good way to reach this complexity is by adding numbers and symbols throughout your password, as well as capitalizing random letters. For Example, if your password is "ilikedogs", you can significantly increase the difficulty of guessing by changing it so something like "IliK3D0gS!!".

3. Add a recovery email. While we at DormNet are always happy to help you with getting back into your account, you now have the option to set a recovery email. If you log into account.harding.edu, you will be given the option to change your password or set a recovery email. Make sure that your email is not your Harding email, otherwise you will not be able to reset your password on your own.

If you need any help getting this set up, please call 501-279-4545 or visit us in the Admin 205 and we can answer whatever questions you might have.
