The Game is On!

Last week AMD showed their new Ryzen 5000 series processors! They are using a new Zen 3 architecture and amazingly the same chip socket they used for the 3000 series, so in theory you could be able to put a new chip in your old motherboard (If you have a 400 series motherboard). The new Ryzen 9 is featuring a 19% increase in performance according to AMD. This should put them on the top against Intel now, but we have to remember that Intel has not released a new processor yet.

Also AMD is claiming that they have eliminated the individual cache memory for each core, making all cores share a cache memory directly, and this has a significant improvement in performance. The next image shows what they mean by this.

According to AMD the new Ryzen 9 offers: "
      • The highest single-thread performance of any desktop gaming processor5
      • The most multi-core performance of any desktop gaming processor and any desktop processor in a mainstream CPU socket

The 12 core AMD Ryzen 9 5900X offers the best gaming experience by:

      • Average of 7% faster in 1080p gaming across select game titles than the competition7

Average of 26% faster in 1080p gaming across select titles generationally"
